Should we remove our articles module and replace it with a Wiki (WikiHack), moving all articles over to the Wiki System?

No Way. That's stupid.
Yeah! But I won't help to move articles over...
Yeah! I'll even help move articles over!
Yeah! I'd like to help, but I'm not sure how.

Misc. News Updates: Members, Wiki, and SILC, Oh My! :: April 20, 2008
Site News A number of quick updates to pass along:

First and foremost, we've hit 2000 members! Congratulations! Let's keep 'em coming!

Secondly, I've officially decided that we will be removing the articles section, which will be replaced with a wiki. It allows for much better flexibility, it's easier to maintain, and allows crossreferencing. I'll need help moving all the articles over, so if you have the time to help out with this, please do so. I keep tabs on all the recent changes on the Wiki, so I can see what's been done and what hasn't.

Finally, the SILC server is basically all ready to go. You can access it with any SILC client (the most popular being Pidgin, which can be used in a PM system basis along-side the OTR plugin). The server is at the following address:

dj-bri-t.servehttp.com:706

More information can be found in the thread in the "Protecting Yourself" forum, including the key fingerprints.

Major Reworkings To Start In May :: April 7, 2008
Site News Over the next 4 months, you're going to see a large number of changes in the site.

First and foremost, H2H will not exist in its current form anymore. The current CMS, over time, will be replaced by the new H2H CMS, which is currently being built. As you may recall, the new H2H CMS will be completely open source, and you, as members will be able to contribute to it.

A number of key features will be added to the site. First and foremost, the articles will be replaced with a wiki. This allows for cross-referencing between terms, guides, and tutorials, while the ability to keep the information at hand up to date.

A more functional forum will also be implemented. Among the new features added to the forum will be the ability to determine which threads you have read and which you haven't. Thread update tracking, as well as daily/weekly digests will also be available.

The user information backbone will be largely expanded. A number of new fields will be added, with greater ease of navigating user information.

Administratively, a whole slew of new features will be added. Primarily, the ability to message all users at the same time, either by email or by PM, will be ideal for communicating to our members. A more advanced banning system will be implemented, as well as a significantly more advanced warning system, which will communicate with a member each time they are warned, and a reason will be required.

What does this mean for you, as a member? It means that you'll have a much more definitive resource for learning hacking skills. The system will be much more efficient and much easier to use. In short, we'll be moving H2H forward in the right direction.

H2H Member Meeting Today :: April 5, 2008
Site News Just a reminder that the official H2H Member Meeting takes place TODAY at 23:00 (11:00pm) SITE TIME on the IRC channel. You can either use your IRC client or the site's Java client to connect. There will be a number of important issues brought up at the meeting, and being there will be your chance to voice your opinion on the issues at hand and directly influence the site.

I will not be there due to a work commitment, but eithman will be running the meeting for me, acting as my proxy. He's got all the information he needs, so everything should run smoothly.

The meeting will take approximately 90 minutes, give or take, depending on the amount of discussion. It should not run longer than 2 hours. If you can't participate for all of it, you can always at least sit in to listen to the discussion.

A log will be posted in the forums after the meeting.

Mac hacked in contest :: March 28, 2008
Security News Mac hacked first in security expo contest

Apple's track record on security was tarnished on Thursday when Mac OS X was the first operating system to be compromised in a hacking contest at the CanSecWest security conference in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

The mystery crack by Charlie Miller was dependent on visiting a website containing malicious code. The exploit took just two minutes to surface at the start of the day, which also invited guests to hack Linux and Windows systems.

Hacker Super Bowl pits Mac OS vs. Linux, Vista :: March 27, 2008
Security News It's the most anticipated matchup in the hacker world: Linux versus Mac OS X versus Vista. Who will get hacked first?

That's what organizers of the CanSecWest security conference hope to discover this week as they give show attendees a shot at hacking into the three laptops they've put on display here in Vancouver.

The catch? They have to use a brand-new "zero day" attack that nobody has seen before. The prize is $20,000, plus you get to keep the laptop.
